Privacy Policy

Last updated 27 September 2026

This policy explains what information Advlog handles when you use the website and adventure logbook, why it is needed, and the choices available to you.

Information Advlog handles

The information held depends on what you choose to add to your account. It may include:

  • account information supplied through Firebase Authentication, such as your name, email address, user ID and sign-in provider;
  • profile information you enter in Advlog;
  • adventure entries, including names, dates, locations, notes, activities and measurements;
  • people and contact details you choose to save;
  • photos, documents and other files you upload;
  • technical and service information needed to authenticate requests, operate the service, diagnose faults and protect accounts.

Please avoid recording sensitive personal information about yourself or another person unless it is necessary and you have an appropriate reason to do so.

How information is collected

Most information is collected directly from you when you sign in, complete your profile, create an entry, add a person, upload a file or request an export. If you choose Google sign-in, Google provides the account information needed to identify and authenticate you.

The marketing website does not currently include advertising trackers or analytics scripts. Hosting and service providers may still process ordinary request information, such as IP addresses, device or browser information, timestamps and error details, to deliver and secure their services.

Why information is used

Advlog uses account and logbook information to:

  • create and authenticate your account;
  • save, display, search and organise your adventure logbook;
  • store and retrieve files you attach;
  • produce insights and the PDF, CSV or JSON exports you request;
  • maintain security, investigate errors and improve service reliability;
  • meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests where required.

Advlog does not use your logbook content for advertising and does not provide a public sharing feed.

Storage and service providers

Advlog uses Google Firebase and Google Cloud services for authentication, database storage, file storage, hosting and server functions. These providers may process data in locations outside Australia. Their infrastructure, processing locations and terms can change, so review Privacy and Security in Firebase for current information.

How access is protected

Database records are organised beneath the signed-in account's user ID and access rules require that ID to match. Direct client access to file storage is blocked; file operations pass through an authenticated service that checks ownership. Transport encryption and provider security controls are also used.

No online service can promise absolute security. Use a strong account password, protect access to your sign-in provider and sign out on shared devices.

Access, correction and exports

You can view and edit your profile, activities, people and adventure entries while signed in. The Exports page provides a complete JSON export, a CSV of log entries and a printable PDF logbook.

If information is inaccurate, correct it in the relevant record. Some saved snapshots, such as a person's name attached to an older entry, may need to be updated separately.

Deletion and retention

You can delete individual entries, people, activities and files using the controls available in Advlog. Deleting a file removes its stored object and its file record. Information may remain temporarily in provider backups or logs until those systems rotate or are securely deleted.

Account information and content are otherwise retained while needed to provide the service, meet legal requirements, resolve disputes and protect the service.

Other people's information

If you add another person's name or contact details, you are responsible for having an appropriate reason to record that information and for handling it respectfully. Do not upload material that you do not have the right to store.

Children

Advlog is not directed to children. A parent or guardian should supervise any use by a person who cannot legally consent to the handling described in this policy.

Privacy enquiries and complaints

You may ask to access, correct or delete personal information, or raise a concern about how it has been handled. Advlog will need enough information to verify that a request relates to your account and will respond within a reasonable period.

Site owner action required: add a working privacy contact address here before deploying this policy.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Advlog's features, providers or information practices change. The latest version and its update date will remain available on this page.
